Chapter meetups is a positive step. The so called baby step.... If folks RSVP and do not show up, the leaders will get upset if the same folks do not have the courtesy to tell why they did not show up....;)
First off, I don't appreciate your sarcasm @ 2 cents leading to a dollar. Secondly if your leader is going to scream at people who are not attending the meetings, this is only going to drive people away from IV. Unfortunately, as someone who has learnt it the hard way, using aggressive language (especially language which is a negative judgement on people's nature) does not get the work done at the end of the day. I didnt attend the rally because I thought there isnt much that would come out of it. The expense was too much to fly from CA. However, if it was in the BA I would have gone...
mrane1, zerocomplexity, jay75: You know that CA had (one of or maybe THE) the biggest contingent at the rally. Besides, help was available to get you to the rally from CA or WA or OR.
A lot of us including myself flew on the 18th and returned the same evening, and a lot of us, again, including myself were part or fully sponsored by others who could not make it for personal reasons.
Of course, if you thought there is not much that would come out of it... it is a different story. Maybe you should look at the positive energy that every one of those 1000 souls is brimming with.

The enactment of this new law is yet another sign that the federal government needs to act to fix our broken immigration system rather than allowing for a state-by-state patchwork of laws and ordinances. I also believe Arizona's law raises civil rights concerns, fails to recognize the economic contributions of legal immigrant workers, and harms our nation's ability to attract entrepreneurs from around the world who create jobs here in the United States.
Our nation faces many tough challenges. Immigration reform is a complicated and difficult issue but the current system is not working. We must put our differences aside to create a better system. I went to SSA office today and they did not accept the application. I had all the necessary paperwork such as SSA guidenace on Non-Work Purpose SSN, Letter from IRS (one that every taxpayer got informing about Economic Stumulus Package) and FAQ regarding Basic Eligibility and ITIN for Economic Stimulus Pakcage from IRS website.
They simply refused to accept the application. This is unacceptable as I do not think lawmakers envisaged such a situation when they announced plans for Economic Stimulus Package.
Of course it is unacceptable. They cannot refuse to accept an application. How can they review your case if they wont accept your application. That is a violation of your rights. The only reason they refused your application is that you are an immigrant. You can therefore file a discrimination complaint against them using the form I attached in my earlier post. Also, contact your congressman and/or senator. They usually have a constituency services department that handles cases like these. If you want to PM me, I can help you with the specifics.

So assuming this is all correct and comes to pass what will EB GC applicants do from the date this is decreed to take effect (May 15th, June 19th October 1st etc.) until October 2008? Will there just be no applications allowed for over a year and existing applications made past the cut-off date get scrapped?

I spoke to a woman in the USCIS customer service and she doesnt know Jack. All she told was there wont be any further authorizations starting from June 02(as idf we dont know this. Teh whole world knows). They will put all the applicatiosn received on July 02 in hold and may start processing from Oc 01 2007. As i said earlier she knows jack about the probelm. If you ask more questions they simply say that they are only customer service and this is what they know. I asked who else should i contact to get more info and she told i have to contact them only. What an idiotic organization.

oooohhhhh by the way they never should ask money for this public service. They are just playing with us. There are similar things happened with USCIS and they got strong and angry reply from congress in the past. That is why we collectively need to contact congress...I wonder why IV is not forth forward in this effort from the gecko???

Remember that pro amnesty folks and Democrats are in sync with Karl Rove on immigration. Immigration was more like a neutral ground on this given the magnituted of other issues.

Put yourselves on the American's shoes; how would you vote if you have your own son dying in Iraq. With all the due respect, Pres. Bush persistence on "staying the course" is frightening. What would you do in this situation ? That's the most serious thing one can imagine. Then you see "conservatives" involved in cases of corruption and gay sex, you ask yourself, what the heck. The GOP really messed up big time. Americans are not stupid. They voted the GOP out as a way to show that those not doing a good job would be kicked out.
To the advantage of those wanting amnesty, that may go in their favor. Just remember that you may get your GC, but then that may also mean that America as we know it may be coming to an end. Wait until those 20+ million petition for their relatives and install here their way of life.

When President Bush delivered his CIR speech, Lou Dobbs criticized CIR as amnesty and he went on suggesting "No bill is better than a bad bill" to Congressman Sensenbrenner et. al.
Sensenbrenner took this advice verbatim and finally rejected CIR instead of conferencing on modifying it.
I think Congress got the blame later and was termed "Do-Nothing Congress" mainly for this.
It is a bitter lesson for politicians not listening to Senate or President but to Lou.
IMHO, if Congressman Sensenbrenner took CIR to conference (instead of a month-long public hearings) to remove controversial provisions and pass legitimate provisions like the border fence measures, public would have retained the current congress.

Thank you everybody that has contributed. We need to raise $50,000 in the next 15 days. That is $3334 raised every day. Now even though this looks like a big amount to raise, with a collective effort we can do this. This is our chance to make this happen for ourselves. The alternative is just staying in limbo renewing EAD/AP every two years for atleast the next 10 years. That is an average cost of $800 every two years every member.
We need 17 members everyday contributing $200 everyday or 34 members contributing $100 everyday for the next 15 days.

Question 7. Should service centers or district offices deny a request for an H-1B extension beyond the 6-year limit where the labor certification or immigrant petition from an employer who is not the H-1B petitioner was filed for the beneficiary more than 365 days ago?
Answer: No. The statute does not require that the labor certification or immigrant petition must be from the same employer requesting the H-1B extension.
I am going to talk to another lawyer next week and will post what he says here.

Its personal choice if and when they want to start the GC process if there is an opporunity. I also didnt start my GC even though my first employer wanted to start the GC for me in 2005 and I refused for whatever stupid reasons...which I am regreting now
Yeah me too, in 2005 a company wanted to apply for me in EB3, though I was qualified for EB2. I didn't feel it was right to apply in EB3, unless you were a fresher.

Hello ... I m responding to a some one who dis-respected my fellow citizens . So what do you say English speaking guys are great IT professionals ? To work on computers you need brian and understand bits and bytes not english .

In 70s most of the towns having only local language schools and stuided in local language schools , thay may be part of reason why some of them dont communicate well ..That doesnt mean they can not work on computers ...
