I think this is a really complex issue. We go thru a lot of thoughts now and then.
 
When I think rationally this is what I am concerned about:
1. Social isolation from family (brother/sisters/extended family) in the long run.
2. Inability to support aging parents.
 
The second issue weighs down on my soul more because supporting aging parents is a debt we are all supposed to pay back (regardless of ethnicity/class/caste/nationality/...). We are not supposed to run away from it. Some of us are lucky to have sibilings who are supporting the parents back home and that makes it a little easier. I know some of us even have single parents living by themselves.
 
The long wait makes it hard for you and wife. So you really feel frustrated and want to leave. At the same time waiting for GC your career has been stagnating for years, your wife hasn't had a job in years and that makes going back harder. Its like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Things seem good with a GC in US and they look good back home but we seem to be getting neither ... *sigh*

Yeah that's the million dollar question, schedule A workers allready have 50K qouta, but that kicks off only after the regular EB3 numbers becomes unavailable, so they first use the regular EB3 number. Now they might have kept the status qou on that rule(first use regular EB-3 quota) and then instead of giving a fixed 50K quota they may use as many numbers after that. So basically what I'm saying is for non schedule A workers this amendment may not mean any thing.
It's a pessimistic view, but that's how immigration system have been in past 3-4 years.

actually people are already complacent ..eb2 is in joy and waiting impatiently, eb3 people have given up hope and there is not much news from core. people may not like my post but that is the fact

If implemented, would this cause audits/additional reviews of already approved I-140s? My 140 was approved in January 2007 in EB2 - Exceptional Ability/Advanced Degree. Hope this does not cause any issues for people like me....

Read the definition of EB-2, and its sub-classification for Advanced Degree, Exception abilities and National Interest Waiver.

Thanks sy. I fully agree it's the agent we deal with. My BOA loan coordinator is extremely stubborn & doesn't have any clue regarding immigration. From day 1 she is stuck on unexpired I-94 & till today she asks me to furnish that. I see lots of frustration here. July fillers, you will definitely feel good after hearing my story. At least you are not in my situation. Read this: I was eligible to file in June under June visa bulletin. My deshi blood s^#$* employer did not provide me the letter in time. I am in my 7th year of H1B and they refused to provide my I-140 approval copy. I have the receipt# only. Attorney will not give it to me either. Now what should I do. You guys at lest will be able to file may be in future. What about me! Please suggest anyone!! Now I can not go to a new employer also! See, you are in better position than mine.
why cant u go to another employer...I think if ur current employer is not willing to file 485 for u..then u have NO OPTION BUT TO SWITCH EMPLOYER....

Thanks for the quick reply. So in my case since my husband doesn't have a RD yet for our I-485 then once we do get our RD, we can calculate that 2 yrs from that time we'll have our card ordered as well. :D :D :D I'm crossing my fingers!

I am not entirely sure about the 1% number. I feel it may be somewhat higher than that. 
If indeed the ratio is 1%, then things are very dire, since with the economy as it is, we probably will not see any expansion in EB immigration in the near term.
Additionally the L1-EB1 route as multinational manager is very much alive and well, and is arguably the preferred and probably only viable route for any Indian prospectively attempting to immigrate to the USA. The numbers of such applicants might be larger than we know. If anyone has any data on that and specifically about the change in those numbers ever since retrogression hit, please post it.
In all honesty, I know the guys applying anew need a little hope and encouragement, but with perhaps 300K people and rising ahead of you in the EB India queue and slim to none chance of EB expansion in the near term, what are the odds of getting through that line in the next decade?

I am about to switch jobs using EAD. I am worried that if my current employer revokes my 140, CIS may by mistake cancel my pending AOS. I am mentally prepared for this and talk to lawyer to be ready to file MTR in this case. However here is my question.
 
1. Will this immediately cancel my EAD? if so, I may have to resign.
2. If I continue working while filling for MTR, will it be illegal?
3. How much it costs to go thru' MTR process? How long it takes?
 
I read on some other website that denying 485 doesn't automatically cancel your EAD. Any inputs?

Apart from calling all senators, I am thinking of writing to them/their offices as well. I guess different forms of communication would not hurt.
