Sanjus is comparing apples to oranges. ie, comparing IV to Comcast?

Reddog: We discussed enough on this Donor and Freeluncher's. You decided not to pay. Why still keep arguing about it?

Why not you provide free lunch to your neighbor's every day? Over a period of time, those neighbor's will think it is their right to get Free lunch from you.

If you are a student and not earning, you have every right to request for free access. You claim to be Highly educated and earning and you still want free ride?

Updates:

I got an email from my law firm, that my packet was refused to be accepted by USCIS.
I received the email from my law firm (Monday night - July 2) that:
Please note however your case was sent to Nebraska last night and did arrive - we tried!

Which means mine was sent or reached NSC sunday night or must have been hand delievered early Mon morning. Don't know exactly what happened. I just trust them!!!!

I didn't bother to ask my law firm further details. I will ping them first thing monday morning and try to give any update I get. I hope they have some proof of the refusal!!!!!!!............

it seems that it was delievered late july 2nd for USCIS to refuse accepting yor package. From what you wrote it seems the package has been returned without opening !!!

sorry again about your news.

All that is being said is very true. Petitioning the US gov't is as American as apple pie. As aspiring Americans we can only be respected for this, if we do it politely and peacefully.

People who put in a herculean effort (not to be underestimated by anyone here) to organize the rally and surrounding activities, broke their backs trying to lay a platform for the rest of us to communicate our case. It is only natural that when they get the lamest of lame excuses, they feel upset.

Every one of us has skin in this game. We need to find some way to lend our weight to this issue rather than just passing time on this or other websites. It is really unclear to me why in America, the most free society on the face of the earth, people feel unmotivated, inert, insecure etc to press what is a most legitimate grouse.

Let me give you a few points that might convince you in this issue. For most of us:

1) We are here at the behest of our employers or the US Gov't (NIW cases). Not on our own accord or illegitimately.

2) The US gov't has certified that our jobs do not have suitably qualified americans to take them.

3) The US Gov't has approved our immigrant petitions.

4) We are in a period of inordinate delay to complete the steps due to a variety of factors, including bureaucratic delays, inordinately long security checks(BTW bad for both us and the country) and an inadequate supply of visa numbers for the number of approved petitions.

5) We are asking the US Gov't to fix this issue and treat us fairly and not make us wait 6-10 yrs for no clear reason.

6) We are asking them to be more straightforward in their policy and to stop sending mixed signals.

Above all we are doing it in the most American of ways. Peacefully petitioning and lobbying the government. Most broad minded Americans can and do relate to this.

Are we/employees really supposed to know all the steps involved in the approval of GC process (Perm, 140/EAD/485 etc.)?

I work for one of the fortune 100 companies, to my surprise, none of my European colleagues is aware of all the GC process. All they do is just provide documents what ever the HR department asks for. They don’t pay from their pocket for GC (ideally correct). None of them has clue about priority date etc….they get communicated by the HR department about their GC process.

So putting your case in perspective. I am assuming that the HR department would just hand over the GC to the employee. Neither the HR (I think) nor the employee (definitely) would worry about the PD being current.

Ideally if a law firm is point of contact for a petition, what would they do? Would they go back to USCIS and tell them that the GC is approved by mistake? I don’t think so but some one can confirm if they had experience otherwise.

I agree we are not suppose to know the details and that's exactly why we have attorneys. HR follows intructions from their attorneys on immigration matters. I work for one of the BIG three in Detroit. I had no clue about PD related laws and stuff; it's my attorney who pointed it out to my HR and my HR came to me and said you need to talk to so and so (attorney), you have a special case....

These words have stopped some people from attending the rally, maybe you should not use them more than million times.

That is an excuse.

If someone wants to attend, nothing stops them from attending the rally

Logiclife. I know why you are responding to these comments you all are frustrated with such comments. I know it is hard to not respond but please ignore these asinine comments. Please have some of these comments linked to the main page. But believe me "barking dogs seldom bite." Such people will ultimately sap your energy. But, just like how IV is asking people to contribute please also ask them to use their own judgment, they do this at their own risk. There are many people like us who have faith in your group although we know you cannot do miracles. Please have faith and I sincerely request to all members & moderator that once we see these comments let us move this to the some thread called IV bashing thread and let the rest of us completely ignore them.

Yeah. We know that. A lot of people think IV cannot get anything done. IV never promised that we will cause CIR to happen. We never promised that we will cause SKIL to happen. They all happen, mostly on their own. There are other factors.

i would like to move away from the focal issue of rally participation for a moment- only to broaden the question. yes i perfectly realize that there are many motivated members that had genuine compulsions of various kinds that did not allow them to consider being in DC. i could be one of them tomorrow. i also know that they are not the majority of non attendees. still, to again answer a previous question, 2,000 registrations was a pretty good number from a crowd that likes things handed out to them. my question though is related to other iv activities. going to a rally is a bigger decision, true. so how many of those who are espousing moralistic platitudes about "cheapening" and "not associating real people with userid's" or blaming chandu's words have participated in other actions? have you joined a state chapter? are you active in it? did you attend a meeting if you belong to an active chapter? if you have no chapter did you volunteer to start one? did you volunteer for pre rally activities? have you met your local lawmaker?

i could go on, but those are key questions. those who complain about trivia need to step up and show their own commitment. the way of this country is to petition government by lobbying your lawmakers. nothing cheap about that one. in fact it's an incredible experience, open and educational to say the least.

you and i do not participate in these things because "he said and she said', we do it for ourselves. please always remember that. set aside egos for a larger motive and see if it feels good....

for days i bumped the state chapters thread up with minimal response. here was an opportunity to meet others like you and plan these meetings together. what's the good reason for that apathy?

the window is not closed. this is a long journey. i urge you to join your chapters or to create one. you will find it a rewarding experience..

i will be happy to provide details and answer questions on this from anyone interested.

We almost fell in to the Fire from the Frying Pan. Now that we are back in the Frying Pan, somehow it doesn't feel that bad of a place to be in. LOL :D

Well said. After having waited for almost 6-12 months for this bill to come to the senate, I am actually glad to see it fall through.

Thank you for that info. I was not visiting the forums regularly then, and the only time I saw it was when IV core was already supporting it and encouraging everyone to do it. I have seen many great ideas on the forums.

Flower campaign wasnt started by iv (atleast not by the seniors), it slowly gathered momentum on its own and produced results. After seeing this bulletin I ve lost hope in all this lobbying and stuff. We need publicity and more of it. Fasting for a day if organized by iv could bring more results.

We are not asking for any special rights or entitlement. We are not doing anthing illegal. We are just petitioning the government to treat us - fairly - in the spirit of the founding charter of this nation, Declaration of Independence - That all men are created equal, and deserve equal chances in the Pursuit of Happiness.

No one can harm us for rallying to our cause. Our actions are protected by the First ammendment which gives Freedom of Speech and Expression to even the non-citizens.
