Just because you are affected, it is wrong to think everyone around you are cheats. If you are so qualified and a real stud in technicals, get a job in Google or Apple. Go apply for EB1 or EB2. Get a green card. Get a life. Don't keep talking as if someone else has eaten your slice of bread. It is just because you did not try.

I hate to say this and I hope I am wrong. All of us EB3 folks need to start speaking up or else our fate is sealed. I do not see any hopes of CIR passing. There is always going to be some political backlash due to the AMNESTY factor.
From what I have seen, most employers are now filing only in EB2 category. They know that filing in EB3 will see their applicants backlogged so severly that there is no hope in seeing their applications approved. So, even those with less than 5 years of experience create resumes that show 5 years to qualify for EB2. Imagine the flood of applicants in EB2 that will pour in when the dates move forward beyond July 2007. There will be a new backlog of EB2 numbers that we have to wait behind. When are we going to get our turn?
With nearly 10 years of experience and a master's degree, I am still languishing behind all these new comers who come here with fake experiences to qualify for EB2.
We EB3 folks need to speak up, and have the spill over given to the oldest filed applications IRRESPECTIVE of category. The spillover rules from what I know were defined at a later stage and not as per the original law. If we cannot get CIR passed nor a piecemeal regulation, at least let us get the spillover changed.
Or, let us en masse transfer to EB2 by porting, thereby making us all eligible for GC ahead of those that are coming in through the back door. I see them as no different from the undocumented immigrants. Breaking the ethical law at the expense of those of us who followed the law. Our positions did not require a Master's degree and I dont see why a programming position today still requires such. I also dont see why our experience today should not count towards qualifying for EB2.
I dont care what or how many reds the EB2 folks give, but the fact of the matter is that we EB3 must join hands.

mind your language.....i just wanted to get an update...there was a big momentum built around passing the i-485 provision and now we are postponing it till CIR....We are also changing lobbying firm....These are two significant changes. First, the initial promise made to members is not being delivered upon and second, we are changing a firm that we have utilized for a year. Are there some problems going on? May be, the firm ditched us.....Look, all these are questions going thru my head....That's why I posted the question....I am bold enuff to ask the questions, rather than sit back and blindly believe whatever is fed to me.....I do not own IV and I don't want to either....

Just a legitimate question amidst all the changes.....

whoa!!!...its getting hot in here....lets all wait for the World cup to finish...maybe India will win and whole scenario will change!!!...just kidding...
Viva...you have raised some valid questions...and understand that you got the answers...lets all have a dedicated goal....Core team please let us know if any...I mean it...any help is required....

GCBY3000, I think you are right. It is not all that simple. There are many in the House who can still vote against amnesties. We shall watch and see. I suggest that no one gets too excited about this.

SInce democrats gained the contorl on house, they will wait till the next congress starts to pass releif to immigration issue. THis way, they can take the credit for it and campaign it for their next election. Republicans are stuck now. They neither want to pass it nor want it to supress. They dont want the democrats to gain the credit whatsoever. If republicans cannot pass it this year they will do everything to stop it in next congress session if they have majority in senate. It is vey comlicated and sensitive issue and we have to wait to see how the business people push the lawmakers. None other then business tycoons can make some impact with this kind of power split in senate / congress with a lame duck president for next two years.

Sam,

Now that you've joined us our enthusiasm has doubled. May be you and cagedcactus can co-ordinate to book the center for meeting ? ( if any reservations are needed)

I'm trying to get some more prospective IV members. I'm sure we'll have a decent turnout this time :)

Gurus please advise,

I have a H1b with Company A. It expires in Nov 08.
A couple of months ago I joined company B and they transferred my H1B.
Now if I want to go back to Company A, do I need to transfer my H1B again?

Company A has not cancelled my H1 and I am in good terms with them.

pl. advise

Looks like some bill must have been sneaked in and passed and been signed to law by our honorable prez. I WISH. :D

My dear brothers and sisters,

First of all I congratulate all the IV members who really worked very hard and contributed $ to make this rally a success. Unfortunately I couldn't attend the rally due to personal reasons which I could not explain here in detail. but I have contributed $ to IV and will be doing more contributions.

I think we need to get the media attention of top new channels like CNN, FoxNews, LA Times, Washington post etc. One way to get their attension is by a car rally from one city to another city with banners on top of our cars / vans in a co-ordinated way. i.e from LA to Sacramento by 100 or more cars/vans at the same time.

The other way is by sending flowers or donuts or pizzas to the news organization people i.e Larry King, Anderson, Lu Dubbs etc., by mentioning "Legal Immigrants did not get well deserved MEDIA ATTENTION and illegals got all the media attention". I am not saying that illegals should not get any media attention. We also deserve same kind of treatment. They are very busy in showing JJ Simpson on all the channels. what a shame.

We can also send flowers to the President office as well as to the parliment in grabing the media attention.

Thanks

no one cares?

"Yes we Care, couldn't resist that slogan. sounds like "Yes We Can"

Update: subsequent to the change in deadline we have redoubled our volunteer efforts in Northern California from once a week volunteer work to twice a week, volunteers on the ground effort. this effort entals that volunteers actively approach High-skilled legal immigrants for support for this admin fix campaign.

We are excited about this and are getting more traction as more people hear about this. The best way to motivate others is to do it yourself.

PS: the number of letter on the first page are understated. Abhijit and Digital have updated numbers. Growing by the week.

More letters = More strength for IV !

What happens if we don't have 25000 letters?
I see that we're way behind and only 10 days left.

I just got off the phone with some lawyers on this. It looks like a strong case so far. They will be discussing it with their director and possibly getting some other law firms or organizations involved. That is all I can say for now. I will update you when I know more.

Good work Totoro. Keep it up. My interview got to a large number of newspapers.

I am also, stuck in this whole BEC debacle. Mine is Oct 2003 EB3 and still stuck in Labor. And the very fact that the FY 2008 quote availability is very uncertain and we might not be able to apply for I-140/485 for years now makes it even more frustrating.
I am new to this team, so please tell me what I can do anything to help this issue to be raised.

I am one of the victims here. I filed my labor on August 2002 EB2 and it is still waiting in the backlog center In-Process. I (w)hole-heartedly support for this...i guess we should send flowers to backlog centers...

This question is not to undermine the effort, which was tremendous but just from a realistic point of view...

I'm just curious to know how long it will take for the impact of this rally to be felt and what are the changes that can be expected from USCIS as a result and how long will it take?

Say, after waiting for a few months, status quo continues, what further actions are planned to persist with IV's cause (i.e. more rallies or by other means) ?

If the same question has been already raised, please ignore.

Thanks.

If you are from India or from a country which fought for its freedom, you would not ask this question.

When M.K.Gandhi held his first rally against the British rulers(nothing personal here Franklin and Mark :) ), it did not result in immediate freedom, but was it worthless ?

My company started the PERM process for me about 2.5 months ago. I contacted Fragomen about 1.5 months after approvals within the company and they said they are working on establishing min requirements for the position. I then contacted them 3 weeks after that day and they said they have established the requirement and will request the DOL for prevailing wage info (this was 2 weeks ago). After which they are going to start the recruitment process. So I'm not sure if the time line is okay or should I be chasing them more frequently? Please advise.
