as long as they can cash the checks.
the law has not changed, no one can presume what will happen
it's just that we are the fools in this, spending thousands of dollars without any choice in the matter, and then in one sweep all of it will be laid waste and we will be starting again...
what's more, for the indians among us, with the merit system, when with 90 points on board you will have no assurance of ever getting a green card.

Its a shame that Sen Kennedy's website gave examples of how people ranging from 50-89 points can get GC's. Just call it diversity visa. Its a lie of massive proportions. If you read my post carefully, I am suggesting this 'in addition' to what's already on IV's agenda. Why can't we work on this item in conjunction to what's already being worked on? I have started preparing a fraud list from a bunch of websites like desicrunch.com. I noticed that almost 90% of firms reported there are fraud firms and it makes me wonder about the efficiency of local authorities. Also I don't see how targeting blood sucking desi firms would feed the anti-immigrant trolls. I would think we Indians would benefit the most since it would increase our credibility in general. Thanks for considering this idea at least. I would like to know other people's thoughts based on my clarification here. This drive might clean up cases freeing up visa numbers for genuine EB cases from India. Why should I be in line with crooks ahead of me? It doesn't make sense whatsoever.
And yes, my contribution to IV so far as been $1000 and involvement in other drives. I am not sure but one thing we can see a lot of anti immigration conservatives are not doing too good at house.. so what does this mean.. immigration is an issue by the conservative talk shows...Lou Dobbs.. and people like them and not the gen US public ???

Just confirmed from IRS website I would not be getting the stimulus payment as wife is on ITIN. Missed out on the July stampede last year to get rid of the abominal H4. Looks like groups like FAIR have to engaged head on if any benefits to immigrants(any variety) are to be realized.

I got to know from my attorney that, USCIS has my I 140 information in their system and they gave him a receipt number. But, the receipt is not generated yet. It may take a week or so to get the receipt. My appl was filed on 12th and it reached NSC on 13th.
I checked the status online with this receipt # and online status shows that they recieved the aplication on 19th and its at Texas center. May be my appl was moved to Texas now.
wat information does the lawyer/employer needs to give to USCIS to get the receipt number ?

Bunnyboy is a member of IV's forum and he had a magic sequence number to call USCIS, that will hit the USCIS IO not the CS dept.
Fdbl another name of fragomen. I wanted to say that fragomen lawers are well respected within USCIS. The IO was very polite after hearing my case was filed though fragomen.
Till now i or my wife does not have any RFE throughout our L1/L2 to GC. Now GC is in hand.
I know they are little slow, but you have to followup to make it fast. One thing is they donot take shortcut in process. Thats the reason many are frustrated. Desi lawers and companies can go to any extent and we should not compare that with a professional law firm.

The USCIS/DOS set quotas for visa numbers because the United States does not want to be overwhelmed with immigrants. And these quotas are spread evenly through all nations and ethnic backgrounds. Considering the populations of the "oversubscribed" nations, this is justified. I can see where the immigrants from these nations feel "discriminated against" in the fact that they receive a smaller percentage (NOT NUMBER) of visas per capita than ROW countries. This does not make the system unfair. And if you think that certain countries get special treatment, think again; there are plenty of people in ROW (like me) who have been waiting for years as well!
Yeah much of what you said is true, however when you keep harping on the words "equal" and "evenly" You are wrong. Evenly or equally implies each applicant has an equal shot at getting through in a certain period of time. That's my only beef with what you are saying.
Once again however, let me state to you that the intent of US EB immigration law is not to be fair to you or me, it is to do what is best for the employer's skilled labor shortage.(Except in a few self petition cases recognized as in the national interest.)

I do undersatnd that these companies did not help you.. y don't u understand that we r not talking about u :) the statistics r these companies bring tens of thousands here every year from one country, yes on H1 or L1, not to sponsor them for greencards, but arriving here with a dual intent visa that allows for greencard application is not such a casual opportunity and that's what I'm telling you is rarely available to the equally qualified non-retrogressed folks. Once here, those thousands transfer to these small/mid size companies u mentioned and choose to stay and apply for greencards even though they know that with their huge numbers current rules will make their greencard journey longer..

Hello! Infosys, Wipro and all those companies are NOT the main sponsors of green cards, which is the reason we're in this forum, no? Most of the sponsors are US based small and medium sized companies.
I don't care how many visas they get, the fact is that it doesn't affect me! I neither have a job with them nor I benefited from them grabbing a bulk of visas. End of the day I'm held back because of where I was born.
Look, this may be hard for you to understand, but just because those companies are in my country didn't and doesn't help me one iota. Everyone's on their own here.
